Notes: [Auszug] PV DNA I was used as template for the Escherichia coli DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. After transcription viral DNA was thoroughly removed by exhaustive DNase treatment (M.G. and A.G., unpublished). To prevent any contamination with viral DNA, the cRNA preparation was then centrifuged to equilibrium ...

Notes: Summary This paper lists the factors that affect the stress tolerance of patients under-going surgery. Hypertonicity is observed in 64 percent of these patients, and signs of depleted coronary supply in 82.5 percent. The stress tolerance can be tested before surgery by means of gas analyses and determination of the minute volume and the pulmonary arterial pressure. During surgery, circulatory crises occur due to occlusion and release of large arterial branches. The anesthetic technique must be selected with due consideration of the increased risk. After surgery the oxygen consumption is increased, which lays heavier demands on the myocardial performance.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary Animal experiments with growing rats have shown a correlation between the volume of the tongue and the growth of the mandible. The surgical reduction of the tongue on growing rats brought about a reduction in the width and length of the dental arches.

Notes: The effects of orbiting resonances on elastic differential cross sections are investigated for the Lennard-Jones (12, 6) model potential. The elastic differential cross section consists of three terms: a resonance term, a potential scattering term and an interference term. The interference term has a significant effect only at small angles of the differential cross section. The importance of the potential scattering term depends proportionally upon the orbiting resonance energy. For the low-lying orbiting resonance states, the resonance term is the dominant term, but at higher energy it appears only in the backward differential cross sections. Generally, by fitting the large angle differential cross sections, the resonance orbital angular momentum can be estimated.
