Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Bei Patienten mit malignem Gallenwegsverschluss besteht eine Möglichkeit zur Palliation in der PTCD.
Notes: Summary One possible method of provide palliative treatment for patients with malignant bile-duct closure is the use of PTC drainage. To minimize the disadvantages of the method, in certain cases we connected the external branch of the catheter with an injection porta and implanted it subcutaneously. Even without external drainage, the catheter can be flushed by using the porta. So far, there have been no cases of catheter blockage in the ten portae implanted. To reduce the risk of infection, PTC drainage and subcutaneous implantation must be carried out at the same time.

Notes: Abstract Photoabsorption, photoelectron, and ejected electron spectra of atomic 3d metals and rare earths in the energy range of the strong 3p→3d and 4d→(4fεf) excitations are presented. TheZ-dependence of the strength, shape and decay channels of the giant resonances is discussed. With increasing Z for the 3d metals the 3p→3d resonances change from almost symmetric lines close to the 3p-ionization limits to broad asymmetric profiles centered well below the 3p-ionization threshold. Autoionization leading to the emission of a 3d electron dominates the decay. For lowZ rare earths the 4d→(4fεf) resonances mainly decay via the emission of a 4d electron whereas for higherZ the emission of a 4f electron takes over.

Notes: Abstract As the domains of diagnostic expert systems become larger and more complex, purely associative approaches are no longer adequate solutions. A good example for such a situation is the diagnosis of a CNC machining center where the diagnostic process has a rich inner structure that has to be reflected in the system. In this article we describe three ways of extending the conventional expert system architecture. Firstly, our system uses a structural model of the machining center in addition to production rules. Secondly, we pay special attention to knowledge acquisition which is intimately related to the learning process. Finally, several temporal aspects of the diagnostic situation are addressed explicitly.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract
Notes: Abstract Catalytic activity of CrO3/SiO2 samples for 2-propanol conversion is governed by only a small amount of active centers (estimated to be around 1017 per gram of catalyst), whereas excess chromium neither develops catalytic activity nor inhibits the reaction on the active sites. Only when the chromium loading is high enough to allow formation of bulk-like agglomerates (5 wt.% Cr) is 2-propanol converted also on this CrOx surface phase, but with a significant higher activation energy.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract
Notes: Abstract Different surface phases of silica supported vanadia catalysts have been characterized by static adsorption, reduction, and reoxidation experiments under vacuum conditions. The obvious mobility of vanadium involved in some preparation steps gives rise to a diversification of initial precursor phases as a function of pretreatment conditions and SiOH concentration.

Description / Table of Contents: The adsorption of chloride on austenitic Cr-Ni-steel at high temperaturesUsing the radioactive isotope chlorine-36 and nuclear physical measuring methods (gas-flow radiation detector, autoradiography) chloride adsorbed on metal surfaces can be detected with a detection limit of 10-10 g cm-2 and a local resolution of at least 5 μm. This method was developed for investigating the chloride adsorption on the protective layers on an austenitic Cr-Ni-Steel (X 8 CrNiTi 18.10) under high temperature conditions at 250°C. Three different kinds of chloride adsorption could be distinguished: homogeneous chloride distribution across the whole surface, high localized chloride concentrations in places of local corrosion attack and local deposition of chloride by heat and mass transfer. The results obtained enabled attack concepts for the mechanism of action of the chloride were derived. Potential applications of this method to the rapid detection of chlorideinduced corrosion processes (pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking or crevice corrosion) or to the quantitative estimation of thermohydraulic concentration processes are mentioned.
