Notes: Abstract Excitation functions of the elastic proton scattering by64Ni were measured in the energy rangeE p =5.0–6.2 MeV at 90°, 125° and 141° and in the energy intervals 5.00–5.25 MeV and 5.85–6.20 MeV at 110° and 160°. At 90° the excitation function of the inelastic proton scattering leading to the 2+(1.34 MeV) state in64Ni was measured too. Out of the ten resonances found in the whole energy range, the resonances at 5.105, 5.985, 6.042 and 5.35 MeV were studied in more detail. The analysis of the elastic scattering provided the energy, orbital momentum, total and partial widths of the first three resonances. The inelastic scattering cross section for the last three resonances was sufficient to permit the spin determination by (p, p′ γ) angular correlations in the Goldfarb-Seyler geometry. The spectroscopic factorsS pp are in good agreement with those obtained from (d, p) experiments. The resonance at 5.35 MeV exhibits an important 2p ⊗2 1 + amplitude in its wave function. Its inelastic partial widths and the corresponding spectroscopic factorsS pp′ , were determined. The nonresonant background in the elastic channel is well described by shape and compound elastic scattering calculations with Perey's optical model parameters.

Notes: Abstract Calculations of elastic, inelastic and total neutron cross sections as well as of (p, n) reaction cross sections in theA=90 mass region have been performed, using the statistical model of Hofmann, Richert, Tepel and Weidenmüller. The optical model parameters were obtained by Finckh et al. from the neutron decay of IAR in the91Zr(p, n)91 Nb reaction. The calculations are in very good agreement with the published experimental data. The optical model parameters proved to be satisfactory up to aboutE n=8.0 MeV. The present work might be relevant to the evaluation of neutron data for reactor technology.

Notes: Abstract Excitation functions of the40Ca(p,p 2γ) triple angular correlations have been measured in the region of an intermediate structure centered atE p=6.25 MeV, for 12 pairs of proton and gamma detector positions. The angular correlations are consistent with the spin 5/2 assigned for these resonances and have established thep 1/2 partial wave as the main decay mode of the intermediate structure in the 3− inelastic channel. These results are strongly supporting the description of the structure observed in the 3− exit channel as consisting of 2p-1h doorway states in which a 2p 1/2 single-particle state weakly coupled to 3− excited core is split by residual interactions. An improved dynamical treatment, aimed to obtain the strength function of the 2p 1/2 single-particle state in the 3− channel, is suggested.
