Notes: Abstract We present a compact incorporation of the weak loop effects in the Bhabha cross section with the accuracy required by the present precision experiments. Special care is taken of the leading 2-loop effects from a heavy top quark which are of the type α2(m t /M Z )4. We find very satisfactory agreement between two independent calculations which are based on different gauges and different renormalizations. The compact formulation in terms of form factors allows a straight-forward implementation into analytic or Monte Carlo QED calculations.

Notes: Abstract Effects from an extended Higgs sector on the partial widths $$\Gamma _{{\rm Z} \to b\bar b} $$ and $$\Gamma _{{\rm Z} \to \tau ^ + \tau ^ - } $$ are analysed with emphasis on enhanced Yukawa couplings to the fermions with the weak isospinT 3=−1/2. Contributions from charged and neutral Higgs bosons are incorporated. Vertex corrections from a heavy top quark and from charged Higgs bosons are always negative. One can however find regions in the parameter space where neutral Higgs bosons lead to positive vertex corrections. The charged Higgs bosons decouple from the ratio $$\Gamma ^{_{{\rm Z} \to \tau ^ + \tau ^ - } } /\Gamma ^{_{{\rm Z} \to \mu ^ + \mu ^ - } } $$ if their mass is beyond 80 GeV. This ratio is then sensitive to the neutral sector only.

    Notes: Abstract The leading heavy-top two-loop corrections to theZb $$\bar b$$ vertex are determined from a direct evaluation of the corresponding Feynman diagrams in the largem t limit. The leading one-loop top-mass effect is enhanced by $$[{{1 + G_\mu m_t^2 ({{9 - \pi ^2 } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{9 - \pi ^2 } 3}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 3})} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{1 + G_\mu m_t^2 ({{9 - \pi ^2 } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{9 - \pi ^2 } 3}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 3})} {(8\pi ^2 \sqrt 2 )}}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} {(8\pi ^2 \sqrt 2 )}}]$$ . Our calculation confirms a recent result of Barbieri et al..

Notes: Abstract The partial decay width of the standard model Higgs particle into a general species of fermions $$H \to f\bar f$$ is given at the electroweak 1-loop level. The analytic formulae are applicable to light and heavy fermions. Numerical results are presented for Higgs decays intob andt quarks and into charged leptons. For not too heavy Higgs bosons the radiative corrections are of the order of a few per cent. In particular for Higgs bosons below theW + W − threshold the correction to the partial width intob quarks is very small and insensitive to the top mass. For every heavy Higgs bosons the 1-loop corrections increase the fermionic decay widths for all channels up to 15%.

Notes: Abstract. We evaluate $\mathcal{O}{\alpha_b \alpha_s}$ corrections in the Higgs boson sector of the $\mathcal{C}P$ -conserving MSSM, generalising the known result in the literature to arbitrary values of $\tan\beta$ . A detailed analysis of the renormalisation in the bottom/scalar bottom sector is performed. Concerning the lightest MSSM Higgs boson mass, we find relatively small corrections for positive μ, while for $\mu 〈 0$ the genuine two-loop $\mathcal{O}{\alpha_b \alpha_s}$ corrections can amount up to 3 GeV. Different renormalisation schemes are applied and numerically compared. It is demonstrated that some care has to be taken in choosing an appropriate renormalisation prescription in order to avoid artificially large corrections. The residual dependence on the renormalisation scale is investigated, and the remaining theoretical uncertainties from unknown higher-order corrections in this sector are discussed for different regions of the MSSM parameter space.

Notes: Abstract The cross section for direct neutral Higgs production in the reaction $$e^ + e^ - \to H^0 \to f \bar f$$ is calculated in theE CM energy range of 40 to 160 GeV and compared to the corresponding Electro-Weak (EW) process $$e^ + e^ - \to (Z,\gamma ) \to f \bar f$$ . Neglecting radiation effects, a signal of the order of 10−4 to 10−3 over the EW can be expected outside theZ 0 region for the Minimal Standard Model Higgs in its decay to a $$b\bar b$$ state. For $$M_H 〉 \sqrt s - M_Z $$ , thes-channel Higgs formation can surpass the Bjorken Bremsstrahlung process and thus may afford at LEP 2 a realistic search method for high mass, say ≧100 GeV Higgs, given enough luminosity. For a non-Standard Model Higgs, in some cases, significantly higher signals are expected. The effects of initial state radiation and-machine energy resolution are evaluated and the gain in using longitudinal polarized electron beams is discussed.
