    Notizen: Reliable and efficient beam generation and setup can provide significant cost-of-ownership advantages for modern high current ion implantation in the semiconductor industry. Automated tuning algorithms which make use of fundamental models to aid the decision-making process can be more effective at producing robust tuning solutions over the wide range of operating parameters typically called for in this industry. The ability to predict ion source, extraction, and beamline behavior over a range of energies from 0.2 to 160 keV, beam currents from 0.01 to 25 mA, using six or more ion species, over the full lifetime of the ion source, allows the full flexibility of the implant tool to be realized. Empirical and fundamental models which describe this behavior on a variety of Axcelis high current ion implant platforms are presented, and the ways in which these models may be used to improve overall implanter performance are demonstrated. © 2002 American Institute of Physics.

    Notizen: Abstract. The relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (RHB) model is extended to include density-dependent meson-nucleon vertex functions. Compared with standard relativistic mean-field effective interactions with non-linear meson-exchange terms, the density-dependent meson-nucleon couplings provide an improved description of asymmetric nuclear matter, neutron matter and nuclei far from stability. The relativistic quasiparticle random-phase approximation (RQRPA) is formulated in the canonical single-nucleon basis of the relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (RHB) model. Both in the particle-hole and particle-particle channels, the same interactions are used in the RHB calculation of the ground state and in the matrix equations of the RQRPA. The RHB + RQRPA is employed in the analysis of multipole excitations of neutron-rich oxygen isotopes.

    Notizen: Abstract. The Relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov model is applied in the analysis of ground-state properties of Be, B, C, N, F, Ne and Na isotopes. The model uses the NL3 effective interaction in the mean-field Lagrangian, and describes pairing correlations by the pairing part of the finite-range Gogny interaction D1S. Neutron separation energies, quadrupole deformations, nuclear matter radii, and differences in radii of proton and neutron distributions are compared with recent experimental data.

    Notizen: Abstract Relativistic mean-field calculations have been carried out for Li isotopes using the non-linear Lagrangian parameter set NL2. Both spherically symmetric and axially deformed cases are considered. The binding energies, charge, neutron and matterrms radii, one and two neutron separation energies have been calculated. The results are discussed and compared with the available non-relativistic mean-field results, with special reference toneutron halo in the recent experimental observations.

    Notizen: Summary Two series of implanted conical, polyethylene Ring cups were studied clinically and radiographically. In one series the cups were uncemented while in the second cement was used. The results using cemented conical cups were then compared with results using a cemented cup of hemispherical design to study the effect of cup geometry. At 7–8 years a total of 3.8% of the cemented conical series and 2.9% of the uncemented were revised for aseptic loosening. At 9 years survivorship was identical. Migration of the sockets occurred in approximately 25% of both series and was directly related to cup cover of less than 80% (P 〈 0.001). The series of cemented hemispherical cups were reviewed after an identical period. Although the numbers revised for loosening were comparable in this and the cemented conical group, radiological migration was statistically greater in the latter (P 〈 0.001). Alternative methods of socket preparation and cement technique were thought to be the most likely explanation for the observed differences.

    Beschreibung / Inhaltsverzeichnis: Zusammenfassung Eine zementfreie PolyaethylenProthesenpfanne wurde entwickelt, die außen eine konische Konfiguration aufweist and mit einem Freeman-Zapfen verankert wird. Diese Prothesenpfanne steht in 4 Größen zur Verfügung und wird gewöhnlich in Kombination mit einer zementfreien Kopfprothese verwendet. Während der letzten 3 Jahre wurden 875 Implantate dieser Art eingesetzt. Die Ergebnisse bei diesen Patienten, bei denen die Operation jetzt 1-3 Jahre zurückliegt, wurden mit 236 Fallen verglichen, bei denen Implantate einer ähnlichen Konfiguration mit Zement verankert wurden. Die beiden Gruppen waren bezüglich Diagnose, Lebensalter and Geschlecht miteinander vergleichbar. Die Ergebnisse der zementierten and zementfreien Kunstgelenke sind im wesentlichen identisch, mit der Ausnahme, daß 30% der zementierten Pfan nen einen Resorptionssaum aufwiesen, während nur eine einzige zementfreie Pfanne solche r6ntgenologischen Veränderungen aufwies. Die Auswertung der Rbntgenbefunde weist darauf hin, daß der Knochen im Azetabulum günstig auf die einwirkenden Kräfte reagiert, unter der Voraussetzung, daß der Drehpunkt des Kunstgelenkes an anatomischer Stelle liegt. Unter diesen Umständen wird sich Knochensubstanz zur Befestigung der Prothesenpfanne auch in einem dysplastischen Azetabulum oder bei einer Protrusion entwickeln.
    Notizen: Summary An uncemented Polyethylene acetabular component has been developed using a cup of conical outer configuration locked in position with the Freeman osseous peg. This cup is available in four sizes and is normally used with an uncemented femoral component. During the last 3 years 875 implants of this sort have been inserted and the results in these patients who are between 1 and 3 years post-operatively have been compared with the results in 236 replacements of a similar configuration but secured with bone cement in the usual way. The two groups have been demonstrated to be comparable in pre-operative diagnosis, age and sex. The results using the uncemented articulation are broadly the same as those using the cemented joint during the period of study but the acetabular component in 30% of the cemented joints showed a zone of demarcation between cement and bone whereas only one of the uncemented acetabular components showed similar radiological changes. The examination of the radiographs of the uncemented group suggests that the pelvic bone responds favourably to the stresses which are imposed upon it provided that the centre of the joint movement is relocated in the anatomical position, under these circumstances bone will usually build up to support the cup in a dysplastic acetabulum and in the floor of a central protrusion.

    Notizen: Abstract A model of239Pu with decoupled neutron is used for theoretical calculations of rotational population patterns in heavy ion inelastic scattering and one-neutron transfer reactions. The system treated is90Zr on239Pu at the near-barrier energy of 500 MeV and backscattering angles of 180° and 140°. The influence of the complex nuclear optical potential is seen to be very strong, and the Nilsson wave function of the odd neutron produces a distinctive pattern in the transfer reaction.

    Notizen: Abstract Starting from a Lagrangian with nucleonic and mesonic degrees of freedom, a relativistic theory of pairing correlations in nuclei is presented. Based on an extended mean field approximationDirac-Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov equations are derived, which contain apart from the kinetic term of Dirac and the self-consistent mesonic fields, known from relativistic mean field theory, a Fock term and a pairing potential.
