Notes: Abstract A dipole band with regular energy spacings has been identified in the nucleus137Nd built on aI=33/2 state atE x =5.60 MeV. The Doppler shift attenuation method analysis of a backed-target experiment allowed to extract the lifetimes of the band levels, which are of the order of 1 W. u., The resulting large B(M1) values, together with the high aligned angular momentum suggest a five-quasiparticle configuration (involving twoh 11/2 protons and twoh 11/2 neutrons).

Notes: Abstract: The g-factors of some members of the ground state band and of the 2+ state in the γ-vibrational band have been measured in 160,162,164Dy using the Coulomb Excitation Transient Field technique, induced by 58Ni projectiles at 230, 210 and 217 MeV, respectively. The g-factors in the ground state band are consistent with a constant value, while that of the 2+ γ states is about 20% larger in average than those in the ground state band. Results are discussed in the frame of the systematics in this nuclear region.

Notes: Abstract  A 65-year-old male patient with an 8-year history of poliostotic Paget’s disease complained of shoulder pain that started 6 months prior to admission. An extensive lytic area was identified in the right proximal humerus along with Paget’s disease. There was cortical destruction and a soft tissue mass. Following an incisional biopsy, a diagnosis of grade 2 chondrosarcoma associated with Paget’s disease was made. The histologic identification of chondrosarcoma associated with Paget’s disease is rare. However, the presence of a calcified matrix in a destructive lesion associated with Paget’s disease should alert the radiologist and the pathologist to the possibility of a chondromatous differentiation taking place in the sarcoma associated with Paget’s disease. The histologic evaluation of the lesion will form the basis for the diagnosis.
