Notes: Abstract Mass distributions of fission-like fragments from the system 271 MeV40Ar+165Ho have been measured as a function of the angle. An expected dependence of the mass distribution width on angle due to the claimed contribution of “fast fission” could not be observed.

Notes: Abstract Evaporation residue cross sections for the fusion of52Cr and110Pd were studied at four energies close to the barrier (up toE CM −E B =26 MeV). The cross sections were analysed using a multiple-chance fission/evaporation calculation. Agreement with the data is obtained with a fission barrier reduced by 40 to 20%, depending on incident energy.

Notes: Abstract Angular and energy correlations betweenα-particles and deep-inelastic projectile-like fragments were measured for the system36Ar+197Au atE Lab=380 MeV. At most half of the coincident events can be attributed to statistical emission ofα-particles from the fully accelerated projectile-like fragments. The remainder of the events may be due to direct emission during the first 10−22 s of the scattering process and to preequilibrium processes taking place within some 10−21 s.

Notes: Abstract Angular and energy correlations betweenα-particles and quasi-elastic projectile-like heavy ions have been measured for36Ar+197Au collisions atE LAB=380MeV. The majority of the observed coincident events can be understood in terms of a statistical emission process whereas only a small fraction of the events, mainly at forward angles, can be attributed to a direct process.

Notes: Abstract For the reaction 290 MeV20Ne+197Au the number of neutrons emitted in coincidence withα-particles is used to discriminate between two equally important but qualitatively different mechanisms for the emission of fastα-particles. They are connected with low and high inelasticity, respectively, and the resultingα-particles differ in mean velocity and velocity distribution.

Notes: Abstract The primary yield distribution of projectile-like fragments from the20Ne+197Au reaction has been reconstructed and was found to be similar when the bombarding energy is increased from 150 to 290 MeV. Alternative to theQ gg-systematics where the relative yields are ruled by exit channel properties, the Friedman model for projectile-fragmentation is successfully applied to the data. It relates the fragment yields essentially to the separation energyQ F of the clusters removed from the projectile (and transferred to the target) i.e. to entrance channel properties and was successful in describing the relative yields at very high bombarding energy (2 GeV/N). For a good reproduction of the relative yields at the bombarding energy and the heavy target of this experiment it is necessary to make a correction for neutron pick-up which accompanies the cluster stripping process with a certain probability. The predicted momentum widths of the fragment spectra, too, are consistent with the data.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary It may be said that it is the task of the orthodontists in cases of ektodermal dysplasia to stimulate jaw growth or to keep it growing by using functional jaw orthopedic appliances. By doing so, we can keep in check the disharmony of the facial features resulting from the failure of jaw growth, caused by the multiple non-formation of tooth germ of the temporary — and permanent teeth. These efforts to correct the abnormal tooth and jaw position are very important and lead to the making of favourable conditions for the construction of a fixed or removable prosthesis. In these cases the use of a combined method of treatment (fixed — and removable appliances) has proved for us to be very succesful.
