Notes: Abstract The Euler Lagrange equations corresponding to the Hartree-Fock variational problem after angular momentum projection (PHF) are derived. The exact equations are simplified employing the Gaussian overlap approximation. The solution of the PHF equations in this approximation is seen to be not much more complicated than the solution of the normal HF problem.

Notes: Abstract The Euler-Lagrange equations corresponding to the Hartree-Fock variational problem after angular momentum projection are derived, including one particle-one hole corrections. The solutions are seen to pose a numerical problem only slightly more complicated than the ordinary HF one.

Notes: Abstract The asymmetry of the fragment mass distribution of fissioning nuclei is described by suitable parametrization of an asymmetric two-center shell model (ATCSM). The deformation energy surface is calculated by applying a modified shell-correction prescription due to Strutinsky. It is shown that the ATCSM is specially suited for the description of the scission asymmetry which turns out to be strongly dependent on the shell structure of the fragments. It is demonstrated that the mass asymmetry at scission is unaffected by whether or not the Strutinsky renormalization for the shell corrections is employed for the calculation of the deformation energy surface.

Notes: Abstract The charge distribution of208pb calculated in the Hartree-Fock (HF) approach using the density dependent nucleon-nucleon interaction of Ehlers and Moszkowski is tested by simultaneous comparison with experimental data from 502 MeV elastic electron scattering and muonic atoms. In both cases the agreement is very good and nearly as good as the best fits with a phenomenological charge distribution of Fermi type, if the effect of the polarization of the nucleus due to the presence of the muon is properly taken into account. In contradiction to the Fermi fits the HF distribution shows a hump at the center of the nucleus.

Notes: Abstract Orbital rearrangement effects due to the removal of a proton are studied. Calculations in the nuclei16O,20Ne, and40Ca are performed using the Yale potential, and the Brink Boeker forceB1. The odd mass nuclei are not restricted to time reversal symmetry which prevents a large overestimation of the rearrangement energies. Although the orbital rearrangement energies are small (〈1.5 MeV) utilizing density independent forces one can find larger changes in the wave functions due to the rearrangement as exhibit the discussion of the quadrupole moments and the mass distributions.

Notes: Abstract The α-particle model of Brink is extended to allow for non-spherical clusters. This is done by admixingp-functions to thes-single particle states which represent, in the usual version of the model, the nucleons in a cluster. The results in the nuclei8Be,12C,16O, and20Ne indicate that the spherical clusters represent the stable configurations.

Notes: Abstract The generator coordinate method (GCM) is used in order to describe pairing vibrations. The generating wave functions are particle-number-projected BCS-wave functions. With the conventional pairing Hamiltonian the method is tested in some simple models and applied also to the even Nickel isotopes. The results obtained can be regarded as encouraging ones.

Notes: Abstract The Bahcall correction factorsX L/K andX M/L forL/K andM/L electron capture ratio respectively are calculated including the Hartree-Fock (HF) rearrangement. The rearrangement takes into account that the atom after the electron capture is not in the HF ground state. The selfconsistent single electron orbits for the excited states with a hole in theK,L orM shell are calculated using the Herman-Skillman and the Froese HF codes. The rearrangement changes the correction factor into the right direction, but the reduction is too small. Only for very light atoms the alteration is larger than 1% and therefore it is in general smaller than the present experimental errors.

Notes: Abstract Multi-Configuration-Hartree-Fock (MCHF) calculations with angular momentum projection before the variation of the internal degrees of freedom have been performed for the nuclei20Ne and22Ne. This procedure yields different correlated intrinsic states for the different members of a rotational band. Thus the angular momentum dependence of correlations has been studied. Experimentally, the ground state spectra of20Ne and22Ne show properties similar to the phase transitions observed in some rare earth nuclei which have been well reproduced through the present calculations. The calculated spectra andBE2-values show a significant improvement compared to the ones obtained by variation before the angular momentum projection is effected.

Notes: Abstract Bands based on the 0+ ground state and the first excited 0+ pairing vibrational state of48Ti,52Cr and56Fe are studied with the generator coordinate method. The generating wave functions for each value of the angular momentumJ are angular momentum and particle number projected selfconsistent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov states where the constrained amount of pairing correlations serves as the generator coordinate. The interaction is given by reaction matrix elements derived from the Hamada-Johnston force. The basis includes the four lowest oscillator shells. The excitation energies of the pairing vibrational states can be reproduced fairly well by the present choice of the generating wave functions, whereas the ground band is not much improved compared to projected Hartree-Bogoliubov calculations. We find that the strength of the pairing correlations in the 0+ and 2+ states of the ground state and the pairing vibrational bands can be related to data of two-particle transfer reactions. The angular momentum dependence of the pairing correlations and of the moments of inertia are studied. The results show that for a strongly paired ground state the ground state band and the pairing vibrational band intersect. This may produce in the yrast band the anomaly of the moment of inertia known from rare earth nuclei.
