The turbidimetric titration method, used previously to determine molecular weight distributions in polymers, has been used for the qualitative examination of various polymers: mixtures containing block copolymer (styrene-methyl methacrylate or vinyl acetate-methyl methacrylate), polystyrenes prepared in branching studies, and commercially prepared polystyrenes. The method is a sensitive and rapid one and is suitable for the examination of very small quantities of polymer. A semiautomatic titration apparatus is also described.
