Notes: Abstract Edmonds and Giles introduced the class of box totally dual integral polyhedra as a generalization of submodular flow polyhedra. In this paper a geometric characterization of these polyhedra is given. This geometric result is used to show that each TDI defining system for a box TDI polyhedron is in fact a box TDI system, that the class of box TDI polyhedra is in co-NP and is closed under taking projections and dominants, that the class of box perfect graphs is in co-NP, and a result of Edmonds and Giles which is related to the facets of box TDI polyhdera.

Notes: Abstract Following Chvátal, cutting planes may be viewed as a proof system for establishing that a given system of linear inequalities has no integral solution. We show that such proofs may be carried out in polynomial workspace.

Notes: Abstract Photosynthesis mutations were induced in maize lines bearing the transposable DNA element system, Mutator. Two Photosystem I mutants (hcf101 and hcf104) which were isolated are described here. Maize plants homozygous for the hcf104 mutation are seedling lethal and exhibit a high in vivo chlorophyll fluorescence yield. They lack ∼60% of CP1, P700 and PSI-specific electron transport activity relative to normal sibling plants. The comparable depletion of these three measures of PS I content conforms to the pattern reported for many other PS I-deficient mutants. Maize plants homozygous for hcf101 are seedling lethal and also exhibit high in vivo chlorophyll fluorescence yield. They lack 80–90% of CP1 and P700 but sustain steady state levels of PS I-specific electron transport activity at 70% of normal. Previous reports of similar apparent PS I hyperactivity are discussed and an explanation for the elevated steady state level of PS I electron transport activity in hcf101 is proposed.

Notes: Crystals of recombinant human interleukin 10 have been grown from solutions of ammonium sulfate. The crystals are tetragonal, space group P41212 or P43212; the unit cell axes are a = 36.5 Å and c = 221.9 Å. There is the equivalent of one polypeptide chain in the asymmetric unit. The crystals are stable to X-rays and diffract to at least 2.5 Å resolution. © 1995 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
