Abstract The effects of the teratogenic drug betaaminopropionitrile (BAPN) on the induction of sister chromatid exchanges (SCEs) in utero was evaluated. The frequency of sister chromatid exchanges increased with increasing doses of BAPN in the day 10 mouse embryo. The present study warns of the possible clastogenic activity of BAPN.
