Summary If lead in biological material is accumulated in the ash, it may be determined by means of even an intermediate spectrograph. The greater part of accompanying substances is extracted from the ash with a reagent which leaves the lead and other heavy metals behind undissolved. The enriched ash together with a bonding solution is dried on aluminium electrodes. A duplicate determination can be carried out with 2 ml blood if the lead content is of the order of 20μg per 100 ml.
