In the rabbit overdosage with cortexone and salt leads to a deterioration of general condition, sodium retention and potassium loss, muscular paralysis and effusions in the pleural, pericardial and peritoneal cavities. In general rabbits are more sensitive to overdosage with cortexone and salt than rats. 2. Contrary to the rat in none of the animals a definite increase of blood pressure has been observed. 3. Kidney extracts prepared from animals pretreated with cortexone and salt showed a loss of pressor activity if tested semiquantitatively in the nephrectomised rat. It can be concluded that the disappearance of pressor active material from the kidney (renin) is not responsible per se for the development of hypertension. 4. There are various factors which may be responsible for the lack of blood pressure response in the rabbit.

    Notes: Zusammenfassung Es wird eine Bestimungsmethode für Kalium, Ammonium und für Salze organischer Basen beschrieben, die auf der Fällung dieser Stoffe mit Natriumtetraphenyloboratlösung und nachfolgender Titration des nicht verbrauchten Fällungsreagenses mit einer TlNO3-Lösung beruht. Der Äquivalenzpunkt wird sehr scharf und genau mit Hilfe einer relativ einfachen elektrischen Anordnung nach dem „Dead-stop“-Prinzip angezeigt. Der Aufbau und die Wirkungsweise des elektronischen Gerätes werden mitgeteilt. Die im Zusammenhang mit der Verwendung von Natriumtetraphenyloborat (Merck) als analytisches Reagens auftretenden chemischanalytischen Probleme und die wichtigsten Gesichtspunkte zur Erzielung einer optimalen Genauigkeit des Verfahrens werden erörtert. Die Eignung des Verfahrens für die K2O-Bestimmung in handelsüblichen Düngern wird besonders eingehend geprüft und an über 1000 Vergleichsanalysen bestätigt; einige dieser Beispiele werden wiedergegeben. Die Schnelligkeit des Verfahrens ermöglicht die Durchführung von 50 K2O-Bestimmungen im Tag, gerechnet vom Einwiegen der Proben bis zur Ausrechnung der Ergebnisse, durch eine eingearbeitete Arbeitskraft.
