Summary Anhydrous aluminium chloride gives colour reactions with many organic compounds in organic solvents (especially in nitrohydrocarbons). Such reactions were studied principally with steroid hormones. Interesting specific methods for their detection resulted. Correlations between the structure of the organic compound and the colour reaction are indicated.

Zusammenfassung Wasserfreies Aluminiumchlorid reagiert in organischer Lösung (besonders nitrierte Kohlenwasserstoffe sind geeignet) mit vielen organischen Verbindungen unter Bildung von gefärbten Produkten. Besonders eingehend wurden die entsprechenden Reaktionen bei den Steroidhormonen untersucht, wo sich interessante spezifische Nachweismethoden ergeben. Es wird auf die Zusammenhänge zwischen Struktur der organischen Verbindung und Farbbildung hingewiesen.
