Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Following bilateral adrenalectomy or after hypophysectomy a marked increase of “Gomori-positive” granules is observed in the outer layer of the median eminence of the rat and mouse. This accumulation of granules can be diminished or inhibited in the adrenalectomized animals by administration of corticoids and in the hypophysectomized animals by application of ACTH. The findings are regarded as a further indication that the „Gomori-positive“ granules of the outer layer of the median eminence of the rat and mouse represent the morphological equivalent of a corticotropin-releasing-factor or alternatively of its carrier protein.
