Summary Morphological differentiations between Setaria digitata (von Linstow 1906) and Setaria cervi (Rudolphi, 1819) are furnished. Incidence of S. digitata and S. cervi in cattle and buffaloes in India, is reported. Implantations of the adult worms of S. digitata in 16 rabbits through laparotomy were done. 13 rabbits subsequently showed microfilariae in their peripheral blood and one of them continued to show them upto 77 days. The mosquito-phase of the life history of S. digitata has been completed in the mosquitoes, Aedes vittatus (new vector) and Armigeres obturbans (found for the first time in India). The infective larvae developed in 11–13 days in these mosquitoes. Ectopic occurrence of mature S. digitata in the kidney of a cow is reported for the first time.
