Abstract The solution of the problem of the edge of a turbulent jet, obtained in [1] starting from a model of the vortical motion of an ideal liquid, is generalized for the case of the turbulent mixing of two plane semibounded (accompanying or opposing) flows of an incompressible liquid. It is shown that the results of calculation are in qualitative agreement with experimental data and that they are close to them quantitatively. Some of the special characteristics of the method are discussed.
