    Notizen: Although it is not free from errors in detail, one of the considerable merits of Macaulay's History of England is the attention it gives to the newspaper Press and to the effects of the Licensing Act and of its expiry in 1695. More recently Dr de Beer has provided an admirable but brief account of the period from 1695 to 1702, but these explorations have served to open up rather than to exhaust the subject. In the present article also some interesting and important topics will have to be neglected, such as the advertisements in newspapers, the publication of literary and trade journals, and the politics behind die discontinuance of the Licensing Act in 1695.

    Notizen: Evidence is presented to show that accounting reports do not necessarily represent the position and performince of firms, and that audit reports are ambiguous indicators of the quality of accounting information. As such, contemporary accounting practices contribute to ‘imperfection’ in the securities market, and hence are likely to lower the efficiency of the securities market in allocating resources to productive uses.

Chaque cellule fait émet une branche majeure dans tous les nerfs segmentaux connectifs (antérieur et postérieur) ipsilatéraux. Il y a aussi des ramifications dendritiques nombreuses dans la neuropile. Ces découvertes furent confirmées par des enregistrements électrophysiologiques en présence ou non de magnésium.

    Beschreibung / Inhaltsverzeichnis: Zusammenfassung Ein Verfahren für die Extraktion des 4-Heptanonoxim-Komplexes des Gold(III)chlorids mit Chloroform wurde beschrieben, mit dessen Hilfe mehr als 99,0% Gold(III) aus Lösungen von etwa 34 mg/100 ml extrahiert werden. Der Einfluß der Salzsäurekonzentration, der Oximkonzentration sowie wiederholter Extraktionen wurde angegeben.
    Notizen: Summary A procedure is outlined for the extraction of the gold(III) chloride complex of 4-heptanone oxime into chloroform. Using the recommended procedure, greater than 99.0% of the gold(III) taken at the 34 mg/100 ml level is extracted. The effects due to hydrochloric acid concentration, oxime concentration and multiple extraction are described.

    Notizen: Abstract Psychoactive doses (0.7 mg/kg) of the hallucinogen N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) were administered intramuscularly to 11 normal subjects. A gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric isotope dilution determination of DMT concentrations in whole blood and urine revealed that only a fraction of the injected dose was recovered and the blood DMT concentrations had a very similar time course o the subjectively reported “high”.

    Notizen: Microemulsions, which are optically transparent oil-water dispersions, were spontaneously produced upon mixing hexadecane, hexanol, potassium oleate, and water in specific proportions. The viscosity of the microemulsions was measured for several water/oil ratios including the phase-inversion region. The striking optical and viscosity changes observed at specific water/oil ratios were in agreement with the proposed mechanism of phase-inversion, namely, water spheres → water cylinders → water lammellae → continuous water phase, for this system. In the phase-inversion region, the dispersion exhibited birefringence and rheopectic properties. An extremely high viscosity (〉 100,000 cps) exhibited by the dispersions between water/oil ratios of 2.0 and 3.5 were explained in terms of ion-dipole association between oleate and hexanol molecules on adjacent droplets.

    Notizen: Combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and isotope labeling techniques have been employed to demonstrate that the carboxamide nitrogen atom in 2-carboxamido-5-isopropoxycarbonylaminobenzimidazole, a metabolite of 2-thiazolyl-5-isopropoxycarbonylaminobenzimidazole (cambendazole), is derived wholly from the parent drug. [15N] Thiazole-labeled cambendazole was administered to a rat and the metabolite isolated from urine. Trideutero-2-carboxamido-5-isopropoxycarbonylaminobenzimidazole was employed as a carrier to isolate the metabolite in sufficient purity for isotope ratio measurements using multiple ion detection. The metabolite was converted to its tetramethyl derivative by on-column reaction with trimethylanilium hydroxide to permit satisfactory gas chromatography.
