    Notes: Summary Cytopathological and histopathological changes in skin, liver, kidney and testis of rats due to nickel sulphate have been studied experimentally. Skin of nickel sulphate painted rats showed hyperkeratinization, vacuolization, hydropic degeneration of basal layer and atrophy of epidermis. The testis showed degeneration and oedema of seminiferous tubules, while liver showed areas of focal necrosis, congestion and dilatation of sinusoids.

    Notes: Summary The urinary excretion of chromium and nickel among workers of some small electroplating-polishing and paint-pigment industries was investigated to ascertain the occupational exposures to the two metals, used extensively in these trades. The workers were also clinically examined for any symptoms of metal poisoning. The excretion of chromium was very high in all the exposed subjects and that of nickel considerably high in some of the workers, compared to unexposed subjects. However, there was no definite co-relation between excretion of metals and the duration of the exposures, though most significant metal excretions were observed at the longest period of occupational exposure.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Zu verschiedenen Zeiten nach täglicher Zufuhr von Nickelsulfat an Ratten wurden Leber, Niere, Hoden und Herzmuskel auf biochemische und histologische Änderungen untersucht. Während sich in der Initialphase noch keine signifikanten Veränderungen nachweisen ließen, traten nach längerer Exposition deutliche enzymatische und histopathologische Veränderungen in allen vier untersuchten Organen auf. Das Ausmaß der Organläsionen zeigte einen direkten Zusammenhang mit der Behandlungsdauer.
    Notes: Abstract Biochemical and histological alterations in liver, kidney, testis and myocardium of albino rats were investigated at various intervals after daily administration of nickel sulphate. No significant changes were observed during the initial periods of the treatment, but longer exposures produced marked enzymatic and histopathological alterations in all the four organs examined. The severity of the histological lesions was found to be directly related to the duration of the treatment.

    Notes: Summary Hydrous zirconium oxide paper has been prepared by treating Whatman No. 1 chromatographic paper strips with 0.1 mol dm−3 zirconium oxychloride and 6% aqueous ammonia. Rf values of 28 metal ions in different aqueous solvent systems are reported. Based on the behaviour, 59 binary and/or ternary metal ion seperations of analytical and radiochemical interest have been successfully achieved. The separations are very rapid and accomplished within 20 minutes.
