    Notes: Summary The monolayer properties of Poly (n-butyl methacrylate) (PBMA), Poly(n-lauryl methacrylate)(PLMA), and their mixture; with various ratios of the two polymers were studied on the basis of the limiting areas, break points, and collapse pressures obtained from the surface pressure-area isotherms, and then were compared with those of their corresponding copolymers with various mole contents of LMA. The isotherm for PBMA exhibited a break pointC and the film collapsed at collapse pointD. The isotherm for PLMA exhibited a long plateau at break pointA. On the other hand, the isotherms for their polymer mixtures showed break pointsA, B, C, andD. The existence of the plateaus at this break pointB suggests that below this pressure PLMA molecules are supported by PBMA molecules as the mixed stable monolayer due to intermolecular interaction and above this pressure are almost separated from the mixed monolayers. The isotherms of copolymers with the mole contents below 13.1% coincided almost with that of PBMA, but above 22.5% they exhibited longer plateaus corresponding to a transition from two dimensional to threedimensional state, and the pressures at the plateaus decreased with the increase of the mole contents of LMA. From the facts obtained above, the copolymer films were estimated to have characteristic properties of copolymers different from those of the mixed films of their corresponding homopolymers.
