    Notes: Abstract A recent investigation of the isospin forbidden electromagnetic transition of40Ca indicated that the convection current calculated in the shell-model should be modified by an “effective charge” to reproduce the transverse form factor. We propose a definition for the current operator and a prescription for the calculation of its matrix elements in the shell-model. We apply this prescription to40Ca. This definition satisfies the equation of continuity and reproduces the experimental data.

    Notes: Abstract The consequences of the continuity equation for the RPA are exploited, if charge and current densities are given. Simple, yet stringent conditions for the RPA amplitudes and the residual interaction are obtained. Under these conditions the RPA equations are simplified and exactly reduced to a hermitean eigenvalue problem of half the original dimensionality. Transition current matrix elements are then similar to those of an effective current recently proposed for TDA calculations.

    Notes: Abstract It is proposed that the major part of the low energy (l/v)6Li(n, α)3H cross section may be explained as being due to a direct deuteron exchange mechanism. This proposal is in agreement with recent experimental data on the spin-dependent6Li(n, α) cross section; it may be used to extract information on the6Li-αd vertex constant. The importance of the assumption of ad-exchange process for the6Li(n, α) angular distribution is discussed in the framework ofS-matrix theory.
