Notes:
Abstract High and low test-anxious subjects evaluated positively and negatively toned statements as either self-descriptive or other-descriptive. The endorsement results were in accord with the existence of different self-schemas. Specifically, anxious subjects accepted more negative material as self-descriptive. Because the self-concept provides a highly effective cognitive structure for the integration of information, consideration of this difference should be beneficial in altering the effect of test anxiety on learning.
