Abstract The photoluminescence spectra of the Y‐type zeolite modified with titanium ions and Ti‐silicalite‐1 have been investigated by varying the excitation energy. A three‐dimensional image of the photoluminescence shows that the peak attributed to tetrahedral titanium oxide species is present at the excitation energy around 200–210 nm, which is consistent with the UV absorption of the samples. The technique enables the distinction of the photoluminescence of the titanium species from that of silicate species.
