Notes: ʼ̛?‚ heterodimeric integrins mediate dynamic adhesive cell-cell and cell-extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions in metazoa that are critical in growth and development, hemostasis, and host defense. A central feature of these receptors is their capacity to change rapidly and reversibly their adhesive functions by modulating their ligand-binding affinity. This is normally achieved through interactions of the short cytoplasmic integrin tails with intracellular proteins, which trigger restructuring of the ligand-binding site through long-range conformational changes in the ectodomain. Ligand binding in turn elicits conformational changes that are transmitted back to the cell to regulate diverse responses. The publication of the integrin ʼ̛V?‚3 crystal structure has provided the context for interpreting decades-old biochemical studies. Newer NMR, crystallographic, and EM data, reviewed here, are providing a better picture of the dynamic integrin structure and the allosteric changes that guide its diverse functions.

Notes: This paper seeks to establish an integrated and practical data treatment system for actual load history reliability analysis. A convergence–divergence counting procedure is presented to extract all load cycles from a load history of divergence–convergence waves. The lowest number of load history sampling is established on the basis of the damage-based prediction criterion. A parameter estimation formula is proposed for hypothesis testing of the load distribution. The examples of its application for the data treatment of actual load history are given. The proposed data treatment system has been shown to have valid and practical characteristics in analysing reliability results.

Notes: An empirical method is proposed for partially correcting the distortion of electron diffraction intensity caused by Ewald-sphere curvature, crystal bending, thickness inhomogeneity etc. The method is based on the combination of electron diffraction and high-resolution electron microscopy. It has been tested with a crystal of high-temperature superconducting oxide YBa2Cu3O7−x and shown to be effective.

Notes: The free volume property and intermolecular interaction (especially hydrogen bonding) of poly (ether-urethane) (PEU) irradiated by neutron under different atmosphere has been studied by positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). The results suggested that the hydrogen-bonding interactions and free volume property in PEU depended strongly on the neutron irradiation dose

Notes: Job-shop dynamic scheduling is an important subject in the fields of productionmanagement and combinatorial optimization. It is usually hard to achieve the optimal solution withclassical methods due to the high computational complexity of the problem. A solution of job-shopscheduling problem based on multi-agent is presented for the comparability between the dynamicscheduling problem of job-shop production and the TSP problem. The dynamic scheduling ofjob-shop production is designed according to the pattern of TSP problem which can be applied withACO. By the application case, the ACO is the new method to solve the dynamic scheduling ofjob-shop production

Notes: Abstract. A nonlinear Hilbert-space-valued stochastic differential equation where L -1 (L being the generator of the evolution semigroup) is not nuclear is investigated in this paper. Under the assumption of nuclearity of L -1 , the existence of a unique solution lying in the Hilbert space H has been shown by Dawson in an early paper. When L -1 is not nuclear, a solution in most cases lies not in H but in a larger Hilbert, Banach, or nuclear space. Part of the motivation of this paper is to prove under suitable conditions that a unique strong solution can still be found to lie in the space H itself. Uniqueness of the weak solution is proved without moment assumptions on the initial random variable. A second problem considered is the asymptotic behavior of the sequence of empirical measures determined by the solutions of an interacting system of H -valued diffusions. It is shown that the sequence converges in probability to the unique solution Λ 0 of the martingale problem posed by the corresponding McKean—Vlasov equation.

Notes: Abstract. We consider an interacting system of n diffusion processes X n j (t): t∈[0,1] , j=1,2,. . ., n , taking values in a conuclear space Φ' . Let ζ n t =(1/n)Σ n j=1 δ Xnj(t) be the empirical process. It has been proved that ζ n , as n→∞ , converges to a deterministic measure-valued process which is the unique solution of a nonlinear differential equation. In this paper we show that, under suitable conditions, ζ n converges to ζ at an exponential rate.
