    Notes: Abstract Different methods are considered for obtaining radiation damping of synchrotron and betatron oscillations in a strong-focusing accelerator. Formulas are given for the calculation of the damping decrements. It is noted that the curvature of the orbits in the damping magnets must be different from the curvature in the main sectors. It is shown that the sum of damping decrements is the same in all cases and is independent of the type of damping system which is employed.

    Afferent pathways of reflex influences from the stomach on diuresis (1957)

    Notes: Summary We have studied changes in diuresis on dogs by stimulating mechanoreceptors of stomach and afferent pathways of this reflex. Cutting of ventral nerves under the diaphragm and vagosympathetic trunks of the neck did not disturb the influence from stomach on diuresis. Only when the spinal cord is cut at the level of the VII corvical-I thoracic vertebrae and also both vagosympathetic trunks in the cervical area, were no reflex influences from the stomach on diuresis observed. Apparently, the afferent pathways of reflex influence from the stomach on diuresis are the vagosympathetic trunks and the spinal cord.

    Notes: Summary The right kidney was transplanted in 5 dogs, being moved to the cervical region. The vagus was anastomosed to the nerve trunk leading to this kidney. The afferents grew in from the kidney so that mechanical and chemical, as well as electrical stimulation of the kidney parenchyma or the kidney pelvis would lead to respiratory alterations or affect the vomiting and cough centers.
