    Notes: Abstract. We discuss physics motivations related to hyperdeformed nuclei and more generally large nuclear deformations at high angular momenta. Possible reasons for the experimental difficulties encountered so far are discussed together with suggestions related to the new setting of priorities that combine our present-day knowledge about the behavior of hot nuclei, in particular, the Jacobi transitions, and the hyperdeformed-shell structures.

    Notes: Abstract: The proton and neutron density distributions, one- and two-neutron separation energies and radii of nuclei for which neutron halos are experimentally observed, are calculated using the self-consistent Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov method with the effective interaction of Gogny. Halo factors are evaluated assuming hydrogen-like antiproton wave functions. The factors agree well with experimental data. They are close to those obtained with Skyrme forces and with the relativistic mean-field approach.

    Notes: Abstract: Strutinsky shell corrections for the cesium-coated fullerenes were investigated. The single particle levels of electrons are obtained using the spherical mean-field potential of a shifted Wood-Saxon type. The parameters of the potential are adjusted to reproduce the experimental ionization energies of the Cs(N) clusters and the magic numbers observed in their photo-ionization spectra of the C60Cs(N) aggregates.
