Notes:
The inheritance and biochemical basis of resistance to Spilosoma obliqua Walker were studied in four interspecific crosses in soybean. Data from the F1, F2 and F3 generations indicated that resistance was controlled by one incompletely dominant gene. Chemical analysis for phenolic acids (benzoic acid, coumaric acid, tannic acid, 3,4 dicaffeoyl-quinic acid, caffeic acid, p-chloromercurobenzoic acid and chlorogen acid) did not show any clearcut relationship between resistance to S. obliqua and these phenolics.
