Abstract The formation of precipitates of iron(III) and nickel(II) hydroxides by coprecipitation is considered. It is established that by changing the pH a hydroxide precipitate that contains Fe and Ni with a ferrite proportion of 2:1 can be prepared. The methods of IR spectroscopy, DTA, and x-ray phase analysis are used to show the possibility of formation of nickel ferrites that are suitable as overglaze paints for decorating porcelain and faience.
