Notes: The conserved currents related to conformal Killing vectors are analyzed. By considering the dilation generator of Minkowski space-time, with the assumption that fields are static, arrived at is what is often known as the relativistic virial theorem. The application of this result to force-free electromagnetic fields is discussed, and the result is shown how it can rule out particlelike solutions to certain field theories.

Notes: A simple tensor equation is given that is satisfied by null vectors if and only if they are proportional to shear-free geodesics. Non-null vectors satisfy this equation if and only if they can be normalized to shear-free unit vectors. Thus this equation unifies the treatment of the null and non-null cases. Conformal properties of the shear-free condition and this tensor equation are discussed.

Notes: The definition of electromagnetic field energy for systems with singular sources is considered. It is shown that whereas for an electrostatic system of point charges one can identify an interaction energy density that is integrable, no sensible improper integral can be defined for dipole, or higher-order multipole, sources. It is shown how force and torque density forms can be obtained by examining the field dependence of certain "potential forms.'' In the static case closed two-forms can be introduced that act as potentials for the force and torque two-forms. As these forms are constructed out of the fields in source-free regions singularities are avoided.

Notes: Abstract The classical Kähler equation for an inhomogeneous differential form is analysed in some detail with respect to the physical properties of its Minkowski space solutions. Although the components of the field contain only integer representations of the Lorentz group for a physical interpretation of the quantum theory, we impose fermionic commutators. The electromagnetic interactions are identical to those of a Dirac spinor field with an extra fourfold degeneracy. Possibilities for the interpretation of the extra degrees of freedom are discussed.

Notes: Abstract Solutions to the Stephenson-Yang theory of gravity and its generalizations are discussed. By considering the inclusion of a cosmological term in the action spherically symmetric static solutions are presented that do not fall into the vacuum Einstein class. A simple double-duality ansatz is responsible for all the solutions that are discussed.
