Notes: The aim of this communication is to compare different algorithms for the solution of the 1-D non-linear heat equation. A standard finite-element method is implemented for the space discretization which transforms the initial problem into a non-linear ordinary differential system. This new system is then solved by means of seven classical algorithms included in the ACSL software (advanced continuous simulation language). Three test cases are considered, and results are compared with available analytical solutions.
