Notes: Summary Morphine and codeine were isolated from blood with C18 Bond Elut columns and derivatised with pentafluoropropionic anhydride (PFPA). The PFPA-derivatives were examined by means of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry using electron impact and chemical ionisation (positive and negative mode). The negative chemical ionisation, as most sensitive, was applied for the quantitation of both examined substances in forensic blood samples.

Notes: Abstract The Lamb-Mössbauer factor in spin crossover compounds has been the subject of controversial discussions in the literature. For several compounds, a significantly larger Lamb-Mössbauer factor for the complex molecules in the low-spin (f ls) than in the high-spin (f hs) state has been reported, while for compounds studied in our laboratory such differences could not be observed. We prepared the compound Fe(tpa)(NCS)2, thef factors of which were reported to be very different. We could not prove thef factors of this compound to be different. The implications of a different structural phase of compound prepared by us are discussed.

Description / Table of Contents: Investigations on hydrogen embrittlement of high strength low alloy steels in high pressure hydrogen under static and dynamic loadingCERT experiments with high strength low alloy steels with ultimate tensile strengths in the range 700-1200 N/mm2 were performed with electropolished and ground surfaces with elongation rates of 1 to 277 · 10-7s-1 in nitrogen and hydrogen (100 bar) at 20°C under conditions of unidirectional straining as well as cyclic loading with saw tooth characteristics. Under unidirectional straining the highest hydrogen effect was observed at ε = 2,2 · 10-5s-1. While no influence was detectable of the alloy elements Mn, Cr, Ni and Mo, the concentration of nonmetallic inclusions proved to be very important. Cyclic loading with load steering gave no sufficient discrimination of H effects. However, cyclic loading with a maximum load defined by σmax = σ(F=0), yielded good results. The effect of the loading amplitude is poor. A significant decrease of the time to failure in hydrogen is observed only at ultimate tensile strengths above 1000 N/mm2. Comparable results were obtained from cyclic loading experiments steered by elongation.
Vergleichbare Resultate lieferten dehnungsgesteuerte Schwellversuche.

Description / Table of Contents: Corrosion performance of duplex steels in caustic solutionsThe corrosion performance of stainless ferritic-austenitic steels (DIN 1.4362, DIN 1.4462, Uranus 50 and Ferralium 255) was investigated in boiling sodium hydroxide solutions. It was found that these steels are corrosion resistant in NaOH solutions up to 30 mass-% with corrosion rates lower than 0.01 mm/a. The mass loss rate increases with increasing NaOH concentration, reaching a maximum in 60 mass-% NaOH solution. Small flow rates (e.g. 0.08 m/s; rotating disc) increase the corrosion rate by a factor of 6 with respect to stagnant conditions. However, further increase of flow rate yields no additional enhancement of the corrosion rate up to 1 m/s. Under conditions of free corrosion no stress corrosion cracking was observed at constant deflected samples or at tensile probes tested to failure under CERT-conditions in boiling 20-70% NaOH solutions. The corrosion attack is uniform in NaOH solutions up to 30 mass-%. In more concentrated NaOH solutions the dissolution rate of the austenitic phase is slightly higher than the ferritic phase. The corrosion products contain more nickel than the base material.
