Notes: Abstract The influence of a few percent neodynium additives to Fe-B alloy on the hyperfine parameters was investigated. It was found that Nd decreases the hyperfine field of amorphous Fe-B alloys. The samples annealed at temperatures between 600°C and 700°C contain α-Fe and Fe3B phases. The average hyperfine field of Fe3B phase increases with increasing Nd content and decreases with increasing annealing temperature. The average isomer shift of Fe3B phase decreases with increasing Nd content. The experimental data show that the change of hyperfine parameters of the Fe3B phase in the studied alloys is due to Nd atom.

Notes: Abstract Amorphous Bi2DyFe5O12 films have been prepared by rf sputtering technique. The magnetic properties, structure and effect of annealing have been investigated. The magnetization increases with increasing magnetic field and is not saturated at a high magnetic field of 65 kOe. In the temperature range 20 K〈T〈200 K the susceptibility can be described by a Curie-Weiss law with a Weiss constant of θ=−15 K. The effective paramagnetic moment for the iron ion (4.1 μ B ) is much smaller than the theoretical moment (5.9 μ B ). Above 200 K the slope in χ−1 vsT curve changes. The Weiss constant and effective paramagnetic moment for the iron ion increase. After annealing above 600°C the amorphous samples crystallize to a single garnet phase with the magnetization of 21 emu/g at 1.5 K and 7.2 emu/g at 300 K, which are the same as those of the bulk Bi2DyFe5O12 garnet ferrites.

Notes: Abstract Amorphous Nd−Fe−B films prepared by rf sputtering and their crystallization processes have been investigated by Mössbauer spectroscopy. A preferable alignment of the magnetization was observed in the amorphous film with a low hyperfine field of 173 kOe. With crystallization the average hyperfine field increases sharply, and the preferable alignment of the magnetization vanishes rapidly. The spectrum of the sample annealed at 750°C with coercivityH c=15.7 kOe shows that only Nd2Fe14B phase exists.

Notes: Abstract Amorphous NdxFe81B19-x (0≤x≤19) alloys have been studied by57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. It is found that the average and peak hyperfine fields and the isomer shift decrease with increasing Nd content x. The magnetization for the samples containing Nd shows a strong tendency to lie in the direction perpendicular to the ribbon plane and its direction varies with Nd content.
