Notes:
A Mössbauer resonance investigation has been carried out on the oxyfluoride Sn2OF2 over the temperature range 4.2 ≤ T ≤ 383 K. The results have been compared to those of SnO and α-SnF2 on hand of structure and bond covalency. The effective vibrating mass Meff of tin(II) has been deduced from the temperature dependence of the isomer shift. The deduced recoilless fraction of Sn2OF2 is relatively high in comparison with that of the fluoride. Such a feature results likely from the higher covalency and the three dimensional character of the lattice.
