Notes: Conclusions 1. For the Zagorsk PSS a new design of the intake-offtake with an extended portal was developed, which is characterized by stable hydraulics of the flow, high energy characteristics in the turbine regime, and improved characteristics in the pump regime. Further improvement of the shape of the offtake (in a pump regime) is possible by greater compression of the outlet diverging duct (to 8–12°) and elliptical shaping of the upper boundary of the portal. 2. The elimination of the trash rack of the intake in the upper reservoir, the water area of which is confined and has special preparation of the bed and facing of the upper part of the slopes, is a progressive decision making it possible to reduce head losses and to increase the efficiency of operating the equipment of the PSS.

Notes: Conclusions 1. Effective schemes of orthogonal rotors for wind power plants of large single capacity equipped with blades of an aerodynamic profile were developed. 2. The two-bladed, two-level units of the VTT type with blades with a height of 0.8–1.0D, length of the chord of the airfoil section 0.125D, degree of solidity 0.25 with an internal shaftd≤0,1D and structural elements in the form of profiled cross-bars, the working blades and cross-bars being connected into a frame construction, and the two-bladed, one-level units of the VB type with cantilever attachment of the blade with a height ≥5b and chordb≅0,1D without an internal shaft have the best power characteristics. 3. The power use coefficient for such rotors reaches 50–60% at a speed ratio of 2.8–3.2. The optimum solidity of the swept area of the rotor (ib/D) is 20–30%. 4. It is expedient to examine rotors in small hydroelectric station projects as well as in projects using the energy of the mouth regions of rivers, tidal, and ocean currents.

Notes: Conclusions 1. The layout of the powerhouse of a PSS in drop shafts with a nonstandard waterway of the pump-turbine with a specific speed of 220 for heads up to 100 m are comparable in their hydraulic, energy, and dynamic characteristics to a standardized waterway, which enables recommending it for use in designs of medium-head PSSs. 2. The use of drop shafts when constructing a PSS on soft ground provides substantial technical-economic advantages of such a variant of the layout of the hydro development.

Notes: Conclusions 1. On-site investigations of the equipment of the Kiev HES confirmed the possibility in principle of realizing the suggestion on converting the horizontal bulb units to a HES-PSS regime in the presence of a cascade of reservoirs with impounded pools. 2. The most acceptable and reliable method of starting horizontal units with a submerged waterway is frequency starting from adjacent machines with power consumption with the runner blades turned not more than 0.15PP n . 3. Constant operation of standard horizontal bulb units in pump regimes is difficult owing to the high level of hydrodynamic loads on their operating components. 4. With consideration of the acute need for mobile regulating facilities, it is necessary to recommend the accelerated reconstruction of operating bulb units for operation in the reverse regime at heads of 7–12 m and their experimental operation. 5. Pump regimes at hydrostations have a sanitizing effect on biological processes in reservoir.

Notes: Conclusions 1. In difficultly accessible mountain regions of the country rich in water resources of small rivers, energy supply of remote-pasture livestock fanning, hydrological and weather stations, geological field groups, and forestry outposts by means of a microhydrostation of the type THHES-1.5 is quite prospective. 2. The transverse reaction turbine with a simplified technology of manufacturing the runner, induction motor-generator with self-excitation and a flexible hose penstock made in sections are the most simple and reliable in operation. 3. A high quality of the electrical energy is provided by means of an autoballast electronic voltage and frequency regulator (u=u l ±1.8%,f=f l =±0.3%) method of regulation substantially simplifies the design of the unit. 4. The THHES provides a stable energy supply in a wide range of variation of the heads (3–7 m), which makes the problem of selecting the site easier: 5. On mountain rivers with a sharp-peak character of the shower floods, protection of the microhydrostation from damage can be solved either by transferring it to elevations which are not flooded, which requires an increase of expenditures on constructing the penstock, or by permanent installation in the floodplain of the river with allowing it to be submerged and with subsequent drying of the generator, which requires more skilled servicing of the microhydrostation.

Notes: Summary Solutions of reprecipitated myosin lose completely their adenosinetriphosphates activity under the effect of high pressure (4000 atmospheres). However, they retain their ability to readily dissolve in 0.6 M KCl and to become precipitated in subsequent dialysis or after considerable dilution of myosin salt solution with water. The viscosity of myosin, free of actomyosin admixture, rises under the effect of high pressure. Myosin subjected to the effect of high pressure loses its ability to combine with an activated actin with the formation of actomyosin. The viscosity of actomyosin gels subject to high pressure (4000 atmospheres) does not diminish after addition of adenosinetriphosphates. Under the effect of high pressure there must occur some kinds of changes in the myosin structure, these being associated with inactivation of certain groups (possibly SH) and imparting to myosin an enzymatic character without, however, making it lose its hydrophilic properties.

Notes: Summary The quantitative content of globulin X was investigated in the muscle juice obtained by pressing the striped muscles of embryos, newborn and adult rabbits. The globulin X percentage was also determined in various fractions of the muscle juice salted out with ammonium sulfate. Electrophoretic investigation of water-insoluble muscle globulins was also conducted. The data obtained led the authors to a conclusion that globulin is not an individual protein but a mixture of different globulins varying according to their physicochemical properties. Electrophoretically, globulin is not detected as a separate component. Its content in the striped muscle juice changes during the process of ontogenesis.

Notes: Summary Proteins extracted by Weber's solution from the smooth muscle of the uterus do not possess the ability to interact with myosin preparations with the formation of actomyosin. This makes highly improbable the assumption of Snellman and Tenow on the presence of any appreciable amounts of free actin in 0.5 M KCL extracts of myometrium. Investigations conducted by the method of paper electrophoresis demonstrate the presence of 3 fractions in the myometrium extracts with high ionic potential, viz., myoalbumin, heterogeneous myogen and actomyosin. The latter consists of a small quantity of actomyosin (undoubtedly bound with nucleoproteins) and water-soluble myofibrillar proteins (mainly tropomyosin and possibly Δ-protein). Likewise these investigations give no grounds for associating the peculiarity of the myometrial proteins with the high concentration of the “easily extractable” actin in the muscles of the uterus.

Notes: Summary Experiments showed that there are no significant changes of the motor function in the seminal cells after x-ray irradiation of frogs (20, 000 r). This shows that disturbance of oxidative phosphorylation under the action of radiation is not a general biological regularity. The effect of ionizing radiation on the resynthesis of highenergy (ATP) differs in the cells of radiosensitive and radioresistant tissues; evidently it is primarily determined by the different localization of the corresponding enzyme systems therein. There are no visible disturbances in the ability of “glycerol models” of myofibrils, the cilia of the ciliated epithelium and spermatozoa (obtained from the tissues of irradiated animals), to interact with ATP. This points to a rather low radiosensitivity of the contractile cellular proteins and explains the high radioresistance in some phases of cell division connected with the separation of the chromosomes and equatorial division of the cytoplasm.
