    Notes: Abstract Muon-spin-rotation (μSR) experiments were performed on superconducting La1.90Sr0.10CuO4 in zero external field. Below 2 K, a fast depolarization of the muon signal is observed, indicating that internal magnetic fields are present at the muon site. The average magnitude of the magnetic field in La1.90Sr0.10CuO4 is in the order of 3 mT and thus approximately 14 times smaller than the corresponding field in antiferromagnetic La2CuO4. The present data support theoretical models of superconductivity in which magnetic correlations are responsible for pairing.

    Notes: Abstract Transverse-field muon spin roation (μSR) is studied in Cd1−xMnxTe, x=0.4 and 0.6 mixed crystals. A large temperature dependent frequency shift and a strong relaxation of the μSR-signal are observed. In the vicinity of the spinglass transition, the relaxation rate becomes so large that the signal disappears. The rate of Mn spin fluctuations causing the μ+-line narrowing at high temperatures is estimated to be of the order of 109 S−1.

It is suggested that the transformation is induced by the strain field of the defect and takes place some distance away from the defect. The experiment was performed at 15 K.

    Notes: Abstract The low-temperature diffusion of hydrogen and deuterium in Ta was investigated using the method of perturbed angular correlation. In an ealier paper we reported the results of measurements above 4 K. These experiments have now been extended down to 10 mK. We found that the configuration of trapped hydrogen and deuterium changes, if the sample is cooled from 4.2 K to 10 mK. We suggest that this change is due to a transition of an extended to a more localized wave function of H (D).

    Description / Table of Contents: Es wird gezeigt, daß die verschiedenen in der Literatur empfohlenen Verfahren zur Bestimmung des kristallinen Anteiles in Polyäthylenen auf röntgenographischem Wege zu übereinstimmenden Ergebnissen führen, wenn bestimmte Fehler, die von einigen der früheren Autoren gemacht worden sind, vermieden werden.Ein einfaches Verfahren wird angegeben, das den sonstigen umständlicheren nicht unterlegen ist, keine Korrektur für LORENTZ-Faktor, Polarisation und inkoherente Strahlung erfordert und sich leicht für einen Routinegebrauch anpassen läßt.Auf die Beobachtung einer engen Korrelation zwischen Kristallinität und Linienbreite der Kristallinen Interferenzen wird hingewiesen.
    Notes: It is demonstrated that the various procedures recommended in the literature for the determination of the crystalline fraction in polyethylene specimens by means of X-ray diffraction lead to consistent results if certain errors made by some of the previous authors are avoided.A simple procedure which is not inferior to other more elaborate ones and does not require corrections for LORENTZ factor, polarization or incoherent radiation is presented. It is easily adaptable for routine work.Attention is drawn to the observed close correlation between crystallinity and line width of the crystalline interferences.

    Description / Table of Contents: Es wird im allgemeinen als selbstverständlich angesehen, daß die bei kristallinen Polymeren beobachtete Röntgenkleinwinkelstreuung die Folge von Dichteschwankungen sei, welche mit dem Wechsel von kristallinen und amorphen Bereichen in kolloiden Dimensionen zusammenhängen. Falls dem so ist - und nur dann - dürfen die Diffraktionsdiagramme zu Aussagen über Form und Größe dieser Bereiche benutzt werden.Da früher durch absolute Messungen der Intensität der Kleinwinkelstreuung gezeigt worden ist, daß bei vielen natürlichen und künstlichen Cellulosefasern der überwiegende Teil der Intensität durch kleinste Hohlräume anstatt durch die kristallin-amorphe Struktur gestreut wird, die Streubilder also vorwiegend von der Größe und Form dieser Hohlräume bestimmt werden, war es von Interesse, auch andere Polymere in gleicher Art zu untersuchen.In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird über absolute Messungen der Kleinwinkelstreuung an Polyäthylen, Polyäthylenterephthalat, Nylon 6 und Polyformaldehyd berichtet. Die beobachteten Intensitäten stehen größenordnungsmäßig in guter Übereinstimmung mit den auf Grund der kristallin-amorphen Struktur berechneten Werten. Es wurden keine Anhalte für einen Streuungsbeitrag durch kleinste Hohlräume erhalten.
    Notes: It is generally taken for granted that the low angle X-ray scattering exhibited by crystalline polymers is associated with the density fluctuations due to the succession of crystalline and amorphous regions in colloidal dimensions. If this is true - and only then - the diffraction pattern may be interpretated in terms of shape and size of these regions.Since it has previously been shown through absolute measurements of the intensity scattered at small angles that in most native and artificial cellulose fibers the major part of the intensity is diffracted by microvoids rather than by the crystalline amorphous structure and thus, that their diffraction pattern reflects the size and shape of the voids rather than that of the crystallites, it was of interest to examine other polymers using the same methods.The present paper presents absolute measurements of low angle diffraction in polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, Nylon 6 and polyformaldehyde. The observed intensities of scattering were found to conform with the order of magnitude calculated for the crystalline-amorphous structure. No indication of a contribution of micro-voids to the scattering was observed.
