Zusammenfassung Von 1960–1983 wurden 423 Patienten mit Schilddrüsencarcinomen behandelt. Bei folliculären, medulldren und anaplastischen Carcinomen wurde die Thyreoidektomie angestrebt. Die Hemithyreoidektomie mit Keilexcision der gesunden Seite erfolgte beim papillären Carcinom mit einseitigem Befall. Nach Thyreoidektomie wurde die Hormontherapie durchgeführt. Anaplastische Carcinome wurden postoperativ extern bestrahlt. Die Zehnjahresüberlebensraten betrugen beim folliculären Carcinom ohne Metastasen 65%, mit Metastasen 30%, beim papillären Carcinom ohne Metastasen 90%. Nur 50% der Patienten mit medullarem Carcinom überlebten 5 Jahre. Beim anaplastischen Carcinom starben 80% innerhalb von 6 Monaten.

Summary From 1960 to 1983, 423 patients with thyroid carcinoma were treated. In follicular, medullary, and anaplastic carcinomas, thyroidectomy was carried out where possible. Hemithyroidectomy with wedge excision of the healthy side was performed in unilateral papillary carcinoma. After thyroidectomy, hormone therapy was given. Anaplastic carcinomas were postoperatively irradiated externally. The 10-year survival rates were 65% in follicular carcinoma without metastases, 30% in follicular carcinoma with metastases, and 90% in papillary carcinoma without metastases. Only 50% of the patients with medullary carcinoma survived for 5 years. Among anaplastic carcinoma cases, 80% died within 6 months.
