    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es wurden die Dichten und Viskositäten für Lösungen von Lithiumperchlorat in verschieden zusammengesetzten Ethylenglykol-Wasser-Mischungen bei 25 °C und 35 °C gemessen. Auf Grund der erhaltenen Daten wurden dieB-Koeffizienten in den entsprechendenJones-Dole-Gleichungen für die relative Viskosität bestimmt. DieB-Werte hängen von der Zusammensetzung des Lösungsmittels ab und erreichen im wasserreichen Konzentrationsgebiet ein Maximum. Dieses Verhalten wird in Hinblick auf die Ionensolvatation und die Struktur des Lösungsmittels analysiert.
    Notes: Abstract Viscosities and densities of lithium perchlorate solutions in different ethylene glycol-water compositions have been measured at 25.0 and 35.0 °C. From these data, the correspondingB-coefficients of theJones-Dole equation have been determined. TheB-value depends on the solvent composition and it reaches a maximum in the water-rich region. This behaviour is analysed in terms of ionic solvation and solvent structure.

Die Halbwellenpotentiale ändern sich mit ansteigendemDMF-Gehalt linear in Richtung zu kathodischen Potentialen, beiDMF-reichen Zusammensetzungen werden für Chlorid und Iodid Abweichungen beobachtet. Andererseits variiert dasDη-Produkt mit der Lösungsmittelzusammensetzung: bei wasserreichen Mischungen zeigt es ein scharfes Maximum für die drei Halogenid-Ionen, bei hohemDMF-Gehalt ein glattes Minimum für Chlorid und Bromid. Die Ergebnisse werden in bezug auf Lösungsmittelstruktur und Ionensolvatation der Halogenid-Ionen interpretiert.
    Notes: Abstract The paloragraphic behaviour of chloride, bromide and iodide ions in severalDMF-water mixtures at a temperature of 25°C is reported. The half-wave potentials change linearly to more cathodic potentials with increasingDMF content of the solvent, up toDMF-rich compositions, where deviations are observed for chloride and iodide ions. On the other hand, theDη-product varies with solvent composition, showing a sharp maximum at water-rich compositions for the three halide ions and a smooth minimum for chloride and bromide ions at highDMF content of the solvent. These results are interpreted for different solvent mixtures in terms of the solvent structure and the ionic solvation nature of halide ions.

    Notes: Summary Tympanoplasty can cause a sensorineural hearing loss by a mechanism of acoustic trauma. Although this lesion appears to be relatively infrequent in clinical practice, we believe that its low apparent incidence is caused when clinicians fail to assess the auditory frequencies above 8000 Hz. Twenty-four patients with normal bone-conduction audiometric thresholds scheduled for tympanoplasty were assessed with an electro-stimulation, bone-conduction high-frequency audiometer which can measure hearing frequencies up to 20 kHz before and after surgery. A measurable hearing loss was found in the upper limits of the audible frequencies in 9 patients (37.5%), and was considered important in 4 of them (16.7%). This hearing loss was recorded above the upper frequency limit of conventional audiometers. The findings in this study indicate that drilling of the temporal bone can impair the hearing level in the high frequencies in a significant number of patients. High-frequency audiometry is a very sensitive tool to assess any damage caused to the inner ear by surgical procedures carried out in the middle ear and temporal bone.
