Summary A method for the determination by HPLC of the triglycosides, solamargine and solasonine, in fruits and callus was developed. It was used to determine the content of triglycosides in samples fromSolanum eleagnifolium. The method involves ion-pair extraction of glycoalkaloids, clean-up of the samples and HPLC analysis. Recoveries ranged between 94–98%, and the coefficient of variation was approximately 5%.
