Notes: Rye-cytoplasmic rye-wheat-additions were produced by double backcrossing rye-cytoplasmic tetraploid triticale with an inbred line of diploid rye cv. ‘Esto’. Addition 6B was identified using LAP-isozymes.

Notes: Abstract We have analysed the development of the tumbling period of Rocket Intercosmos 11 (1974-34-B) during the first 2 years after launch. We interpret the period increase, observed from August 1974 to June 1976, as being caused by torque moments due to eddy currents induced in the hollow cylinder by the magnetic field of the Earth. The spin-decay time of 1974-34-B was 1.13 yr. This compares well to results derived by Williams and Meadows in 1978 for other Soviet rocket bodies. The tumbling acceleration of 1974-34-B, observed in June 1974, is interpeted as outgassing effect of rest propellant which remained inside the rocket after burn-off. A model of the outgassing acceleration is developed and compared to the period measurements of 1974-34-B. A reasonable good agreement between observed and predicted periods can be derived by using a nonlinear regression fit. An initial mass ratio of the rest propellant and the empty rocket cylinder is estimated.

Notes: Abstract The crystalline to amorphous phase transformation was studied by performing Mn implantations into Al thin films and single crystals at RT. Structural changes and the lattice site occupation of the Mn atoms were directly observed as a function of Mn concentration by X-ray diffraction, Rutherford backscattering (RBS) and channeling experiments. A detailed analysis of the strain distribution upon implantation is given taking into account the lattice site occupation of the Mn atoms and the atomic mobility during implantation at RT. At Mn concentrations ≦1–2 at% the mainly substitutionally incorporated Mn atoms distort the Al lattice considerably. These distortions provide the driving force for local lattice rearrangements that lead to the formation of amorphous clusters. Experimental results are further consistent with the assumption that the atomic density of these amorphous clusters is equal to the fcc value thus minimizing the strains after transformation. From the results it is concluded that the strain energy is the single most important factor in the amorphization process, determining both the instability of the supersaturated solid solution and the transformation to the amorphous state.

Notes: Investigation on Probe Properties of 7-Hydroxy-coumarines in Micellar Cetyl-triethyl-ammoniumbromide Solution - Means for Characterization of Micellar SystemsAnions of 3-substituted 7-hydroxy-coumarines (1a-c) as fluorescence probes have been studied in this work. Acid-base equilibria in water and micellar solution of cetyl-triethylammoniumbromide (cmc = 0,72 mmol l-1), fluorescence properties and fluorescence quenching by octacyano-molybdate-IV have been investigated. It has been confirmed that probe and quencher are completely micellized. Fluorescence life times and quenching constants per one quencher molecule in the micell of about 108 s-1 have been determined. The kinetics of saponification of the probe 3-acetyl-7-hydroxy-coumarine at pH = 12 in micellar solution has been followed by probe fluorescence.

Notes: The conjugation products of several reactive quinones with glutathione have been identified by fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry. Appropriate conditions have been developed which enabled the direct, dynamic mass spectral analysis of spontaneous, as well as glutathione transferase catalysed conjugation reactions. Applications to a series of quinones provided the direct detection and differentiation of the formation of mono- and bisglutathionyl adducts between regioisomeric quinone substrates in that only 1,4-quinones yielded bisglutathionyl adducts, which were not observed for the 1,2-isomers.

Notes: Abstract We have studied the muon diffusion in various Nb−HX systems with 0.75〈x〈0.95, with special attention to the concentrations x〈0.9. For x〉0.9 the muon linewidth as function of temperature has a smooth behaviour and the muon mobility is strongly correlated to the hydrogen diffusion in the beta phase. The activation energy for the μ+ diffusion is 160 meV, which is lower than that for protons. At hydrogen concentrations below 0.9, the muon diffusion behaviour is more complicated, and the influence of Nb−H phase transitions is evident. The implications for the local environment of the muon are discussed.
