Zusammenfassung Wegen des hohen Wassergehaltes von Manganerzknollen ist es wesentlich, bei der Analyse von bis zur Gewichtskonstanz getrockneten Proben auszugehen. Außerdem ist das stark hygroskopische Verhalten bereits getrockneter Manganknollen zu beachten. Richtige Analysenergebnisse setzen die Berücksichtigung dieser Eigenschaften voraus.

Abstract In view of the high water content of manganese nodules, it is essential to make the analyses on samples dried up to constant weight. Besides, the strongly hygroscopic behaviour of already dried manganese nodules should be taken into account. Accurate results of analysis can only be obtained, if these factors are considered.
