Description / Table of Contents: Abstract The analysis of the circular dichroism of the “ferrocene band” of optically active ferrocene derivatives shows that this transition is split into two components. By measurement of temperature and solvent dependence of these components it was established that this splitting is due to electronic origins and not caused by conformational or solvation equilibria.

Notes: Abstract Using fixed tautomeric structures of 3,4-dihydropyrromethenones and 2,3-dihydrobilatrienes-abc (N- and O-alkylation) a prevalence of the lactam and bis-lactam form over lactimes by several orders of magnitude could be deduced. Although there are complications arising from side reactions of the pyrrolidinone fragment, protonation equilibria provided valuable clues for this result which is nicely complemented by NMR-, IR and UV-VIS data.

Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Die polyenergide Xanthophycee Botrydium granulatum wurde nach Glutaraldehydfixierung elektronenmikroskopisch an Ultradünnschnitten untersucht. 1. Die Energiden sind cytomorphologisch nicht gegeneinander abgegrenzt. 2.
Notes: Summary The fine structure of the multinucleate alga Botrydium granulatum (Xanthophyceae) has been examined by electron microscopy. In these cells the different energids are not separated by any membraneous structures. The plastids are (in addition to their own double membrane) surrounded by an outer envelope which is sometimes continuous with cisternae of the endoplasmic reticulum or, especially during the formation of zoospores, connected with perinuclear cisternae. Bands, consisting of three thylakoids each, traverse the plastids. Within these bands the thylakoids are not tightly appressed, but loosely associated with a distinct, narrow space in between them. The plastids contain pyrenoids as regions of a some-what denser matrix which are not limited by particular membranes. In each energid there is a Golgi apparatus composed of two reticulate dictyosomes, which are located in a typical parabasal position, relating to the two centrioles or the flagellar bases, respectively. An association between these dictyosomes and the nuclear envelope is apparent. Vesicles, which seem to derive from blebs of the outer membrane of the nuclear envelope, appear to coalesce with the cisternae of the dictyosomal forming face. Furthermore, evidence is presented for the derivation of some characteristic vesicles like the “coated” and “fusiform” vesicles from the dictyosomes. The structural features are discussed with reference to the position of the Xanthophyceae in the taxonomic system of algae.

Notes: [Auszug] Piparonyl butoxide (PB), a comparatively inert and non-toxic methylenedioxyphenyl derivative (Table 1), is widely used as a synergist with various pesticides4-7. The effects of PB appear to depend on the inhibition of enzymatic processes which detoxify or activate the parent pesticide so that ...

Notes: [Auszug] We report here a high incidence of remote tumours, hepatomas, after subcutaneous injections of maleic hydrazide in infant mice. Swiss mice (ICE/Ha) were injected subcutaneously with aqueous solutions or tricaprylin suspensions of maleic hydrazide as the free acid, batch No. Q5199 containing about ...
