Notes: [Auszug] Field studies have shown pulmonary oedema and emphysema to be a common feature of parasitic bronchitis in the adult bovine. The helminthological picture in such cases is very variable. At one extreme there may be large numbers of mature worms present, while at the other only a score or so of ...

Notes: [Auszug] Having observed the presence of undeveloped Dictyocaulus filaria in the lungs of resistant experimental sheep a hundred days after the administration of infective larvae, we proceeded to look for the same thing in naturally occurring cases of parasitic bronchitis in adult cattle and, using ...

Notes: [Auszug] It now appears that there is a third mechanism of resistance which prevents infective larvae from establishing themselves. In a series of recent experiments, rabbits were infected with T. retortceformis larvae three times a week. For the first three weeks the doses of larvae administered increased ...

Notes: [Auszug] When a massive dose of infective larvae is administered to a previously infected animal, a large proportion of the larvae, having burrowed into the intestinal mucosa, are there inhibited in their development and, instead of returning to the lumen of the intestine and continuing their development, ...

Notes: [Auszug] The course of an infection established by the administration of a single dose of larvae varies. Either it is terminated abruptly after a few weeks, or no such sudden self-cure takes place and the faecal egg-count falls very gradually over a period of many months, the rate of fall itself decreasing ...

Notes: The atmospheric pressure chemical ionization of the dinitrotoluene isomers in ambient air was studied with a quadrupole mass spectrometer operating in the negative mode. The isomers can be grouped on the basis of the product ions: 2,5-, and 2,6- and 3,5-dinitrotoluene give the molecular anion with little fragmentation; 2,3- and the 3,4-dinitrotoluene behave similarly but with more extensive fragmentation; 2,4-dinitrotoluene gives the quasimolecular [DNT - H]- ion with little fragmentation. The results are discussed in terms of the molecular structure of the isomers.
