Summary Comparative theoretical and experimental studies using ebulliometry and vapour pressure osmometry were carried out for the two systems biphenyl-benzene and benzilbenzene at 36.9 °C. A slightly modified vapour pressure osmometer from the company Mechrolab and a recently developed rotating ebulliometer were used for the studies. The ebullioscopic constant of benzene is greater than the vapour pressure constant in the steady state. The experimental results agree with the theory of Kamide and Sanada. For each system, biphenyl-benzene and benzil-benzene, the 2nd ebullioscopic virial coefficientB m is greater than the apparent 2nd vapour pressure osmometric virial coefficientB s′. These results could be explained by dilution effect of the solution droplet in the vapour pressure osmometer.
Notizen:
