Notes: [Auszug] SIR - I must voice my grave concern that, in the influential editorial pages of Nature, reasoned argument has given way to the emotional outburst of your comment "A book for burning?" (24 September, p.245). Amid many heated adjectives you condemn Dr Sheldrake's A New Science of Life as "the best ...

Notes: [Auszug] IT is in the nature of science to question, to refuse to treat anything as unalterable dogma; and so there is nothing improper in questioning the correctness of Maxwellian electrodynamics, special relativity and general relativity, as does the author of this book. In their place he proposes ...

Notes: Abstract Previous results of the author are corrected by reformulating them in space-times whose Riemann tensor satisfies a Hölder condition.

Notes: Abstract We describe a modification of Schmidt's b-boundary for a space-time, using a projective limit construction. The resulting boundary provides endopoints for all incomplete inextensible curves that are not totally or partially trapped, and every boundary point is an endpoint of such a curve. Boundary points are always Hausdorff separated from interior points, and the construction gives separate past and future singularities in thek=+1, Λ=0, Friedmann cosmology.

Notes: Abstract In this paper we prove that if there is a naked singularity, then there will be some null geodesic, reaching ℐ+ from the singularity, which does not satisfy the strong curvature condition regardless of whether causality is violated or not. Assuming that a naked singularity is a strong curvature singularity only sufficiently far to the future, we prove that strong causality is violated arbitrarily close to ℐ+.

Notes: Abstract A criterion is given under which essential singularities occur in any space-time having compact spacelike slices whose size (measured by a parallelly propagated frame) shrinks to zero, and where there is a timelike congruence with incomplete curves.
