Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Biopterin and neopterin give the same voltammetric oxidation and reduction peaks as 6-methyl- or 6,7-di-methylpterin. Owing to an acid catalyzed isomerisation of 7,8-dihydroneopterin (t 1/2=38 s at pH 5) also sepiapterin, and to a slower occurring splitting of the lactyl side chain, xanthopterin derivates were found. The redoxpotentials of these compounds at pH7 and 3 were determined. The oxidation potentials are of interest for the HPLC determination of neopterin derivates from biological material if the detection is carried out with an electrochemical detector.
