Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Summary Fully developed laminar flow of air at Re = 1068 and 2017 enters a porous tube with circular cross-section. The air is injected uniformly through the tube wall at two ratios of mass velocity to the average mass velocity at the inlet of the porous tube. Measurements of velocity profiles and static pressure drops were made at various downstream locations in the flow direction. Pitot tubes were used to measure velocities in terms of dynamic pressures. A new micromanometer, sensitive to a pressure differential of 0.1 micron of water, was developed and used to measure the very low pressure differentials encountered in laminar flows. The experimental data show an excellent agreement with the numerical solutions previously investigated by the authors in Part I of this publication.
