Notes:
A case of chrysiasis was studied by light and electron microscopy, X-ray microanalysis, and neutron activation analysis. The microscopic examination showed gold deposits in the perivascular areas in macrophages, and by electron microscopy studies gold was found exclusively in the phagolysosomes (aurosomes) indifferent ultrastructural patterns. The X-ray microanalysis confirmed that the phagolysosome contained gold. The concentration in light-exposed skin was 750–770 p.p.m. measured by the neutron activation analysis.
