Conclusions 1. The possibility of forming radical cations of diarylamines in the oxidation of DPA and its derivatives has been demonstrated by means of ESR. 2. In the oxidation of 4-sulfodiphenylamine in 8 N H2S4, the ESR spectrum of the reaction mixture can be assigned to a cation radical of the tetraarylhydrazine; in the oxidation of N-methyl-4-sulfodiphenylamine, the spectrum can be assigned to a cation radical of the N,N'-diarylbenzidine. 3. The ESR data obtained in this work are consistent with an oxidation mechanism that includes intermediate radical stage.
