Evidence of Intramolecular Mobility by NMR Spectroscopy, XVIII1). - Comparison of the Inversion Rates on Double Bonded Nitrogen in Guanidines and ImidazolidineiminesThe syn-anti-isomerisation on the C=N-bond in cyclic guanidines 1 requires about 7 kcla/mole less than that in the corresponding acyclic guanidines 2. The isomerisation rate of 1 depends markedly on the nature of the solvent. For the first time the thermal uncatalyzed nitrogen inversion has been observed by NMR spectroscopy in an oxime ether (1a) and in an hydrazone (1b). Solvent effects on barriers and chemical shifts are discussed.

Die syn-anti-Isomerisierung an der C=N-Bindung erfordert bei den cyclischen Guanidinen 1 eine um ca. 7 kcal/Mol geringere Aktivierungsenergie als bei den entsprechenden acyclischen Tetramethylguanidinen 2. Die gemessenen Isomerisierungsgeschwindigkeiten hängen in 1 besonders stark vom Lösungsmittel ab. Die unkatalysierte thermische Stickstoffinversion wird erstmals bei einem Oximäther (1a) bzw. einem Hydrazon (1b) NMR-spektroskopisch beobachtet. Die Einflüsse des Lösungsmittels auf die Barrieren und die chemischen Verschiebungen werden diskutiert.
