Conclusions A tunnel kiln built according to a project from the East Institute of Refractories for firing ShLB-1.3 and ShLB-1.0 products, using sawdust as the combustible additive, ensures the production of refractories meeting the requirements of GOST. Operation of the reconstructed kiln shows that extending the preheat zone compared with the demolished kiln results in complete burning-out of the sawdust before the start of sintering of the firebricks. The use of the foundation, forechamber, pushers, and doors of the demolished kiln reduced the capital expenditure needed to build the new kiln.
